A supplement called Slimplicity Accelerator is taken before each meal, while a shake is consumed in place of a “normal” lunch. Major active ingredients offered in most Reliv Slimplicity supplements are Caffeine (a stimulant and diuretic that aims to boost energy levels), Advantra-Z (increases metabolic rates), L-Carnitine (may burn fat) and Hoodia Gordonii (appetite suppressing substance that contains a molecule called P-57). Items included in the Reliv Slimplicity starter kit are; two cans of the meal replacement shake (chocolate, strawberry or vanilla), a shaker cup, one bottle of the Accelerator capsules, a success plan with tips, a pedometer to help keep track of progress, a refrigerator magnet and a wallet cover.

Relìv International Named As Finalist In the American Business Awards

Relìv International Named As Finalist In the American Business Awards

Relìv International is a finalist for a Stevie® Award for the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year. In addition to providing free nutritional supplements to 42,000 malnourished individuals, mostly children, every day in 10 countries, the Relìv Kalogris Foundation has built and furnished three feeding centers for children in the Philippines and Haiti.

CHESTERFIELD, Mo., June 8, 2009 – Relìv International, Inc. (NASDAQ:RELV) was named a finalist for a 2009 American Business Award, known as a Stevie® Award. Relìv received a finalist nomination for the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year award in recognition for the work of the Relìv Kalogris Foundation.

Since January 2008, the Relìv Kalogris Foundation has built and furnished three combination feeding centers and schools for malnourished children in the Philippines and Haiti. A fourth feeding center/school is scheduled to be dedicated in Haiti in early June.

“The Relìv Kalogris Foundation provides free nutritional supplements to more than 42,000 people, mostly children, every day,” said R. Scott Montgomery, chairman of the Relìv Foundation. “Last year, the foundation expanded its activities from supplying free nutritional supplements to include building feeding centers in parts of the world with the greatest need.”

Montgomery added, “The Relìv Foundation this year also started supplying free bio-sand water filters to its feeding programs in Haiti. Less than half the population in Haiti has potable water, according to the World Health Organization. The filters will allow the feeding centers to use clean water to make their 5,000 Relìv nutritional shakes a day as well as provide clean drinking water throughout the day.

“Relìv’s 68,000 independent distributors have donated funds to the foundation for the last 14 years, and we are particularly proud to see their generosity recognized by this Stevie Award finalist nomination,” Montgomery said.

The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S. are eligible to submit entries to the ABAs – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

The winners will be announced on June 22 in New York. More than 2,600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories. This year marks the seventh annual Stevie Awards.

Relìv International Reports First-Quarter 2010 Results

A nutrition and direct selling company, today reported that sales and earnings in the first-quarter of 2010 were below last year's first-quarter results, but sales outside of the United States rose during the period.

Net sales were $22.7 million, a decline of 4.5 percent from the first quarter of 2009. U.S. sales declined 9.0 percent. International sales rose 36.1 percent, with approximately half of the increase due to currency fluctuations.

Net income was $746,000 for the quarter, or $0.06 per diluted share, compared to $1.0 million in net income, or $0.07 per diluted share, in the same quarter last year.

Robert L. Montgomery, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, "International sales were a bright spot this quarter, increasing approximately 19 percent excluding the effect of currency fluctuations. Our U.S. distributors and customers, however, are still feeling the effects of the recession, as their spending remains below last year's levels. The rate of the sales decline, however, has moderated compared to previous years' declines."

Montgomery described several tactics designed to increase sales. "We are currently conducting the Relìv 'Freedom Tour' in which senior executives will visit our 35 top U.S. markets. We hope to spur new-distributor enrollments and encourage existing distributors to expand their businesses more quickly," Montgomery said.

"In the first quarter, we launched the Team Relìv concept in which distributors will sponsor running events in their hometowns," he said. "The events give participants an opportunity to sample Innergize, our isotonic sports product, and give our distributors a means of generating leads. This is part of a strategy to attract younger distributors to Relìv and to increase our brand awareness by emphasizing the role of Relìv supplements in a healthy, active lifestyle," Montgomery said.

Relìv also introduced three new Relìvables products during the first quarter, including Relìvables Soy Nuts, Relìvables snack bars and "r" body lotion.

One factor in the overall sales decline has been a reduction in the size of the average order. "Over the last two years, the number of orders has remained relatively steady, which indicates a solid customer base," Montgomery said. "We believe the recession, therefore, is the main culprit leading to lower average order sizes."

He added, "Our total distributor count declined from last year, mainly due to a slow January and February this year. In the first quarter of last year, enrollments were very strong due in part to a special promotion that wasn't in place in the first quarter of 2010. March 2010 enrollments, however, were back to our historical levels," he said.

Relìv generated net cash from operating activities of $1.6 million in the first quarter, less than the $2.8 million in net cash generated in the first quarter of 2009. As of March 31, 2010, Relìv had cash and cash equivalents of $7.2 million, up slightly from $7.0 million on hand as of the same date in 2009.

He added, "Relìv was founded on the premise that we make nutrition simple. We offer outstanding products that are based on the latest scientific research. In addition, we provide an affordable business opportunity for individuals who want to start a home-based business."

Reliv GlucAffect Proves Successful For Fight Against Diabetes

Relìv International’s GlucAffect™ Proven Effective in Clinical Study

Study Shows GlucAffect Reduces Blood Glucose Levels and Promotes Weight Loss

CHESTERFIELD, Mo., July 16, 2009 – A clinical study published in the journal Phytotherapy Research found that GlucAffect™, a nutritional supplement developed by Relìv International, Inc. (NASDAQ:RELV), significantly reduced blood glucose levels and helped control weight in study participants.

The study included 50 overweight individuals who had pre-diabetic glucose levels prior to the study. Subjects taking GlucAffect, a powdered product mixed with water or other liquids, lowered their fasting blood glucose by an average of 30 percent and they lost an average of 16 pounds. Subjects in the control group reported a marginal decline in blood glucose levels and no significant weight loss.

The study was conducted at Gabriele D’Annunzio University in Chieti-Pescara, Italy.

“The people in the GlucAffect group achieved statistically significant lower blood sugar levels as well as significant weight loss compared to both their own baseline starting point and to the results of the people in the placebo group,” said Dr. Carl Hastings, Relìv’s vice chairman and chief scientific officer, who is a Ph.D. in food science. “GlucAffect enabled subjects to achieve healthy weight and blood sugar levels after eight weeks,” Hastings added.

Reliv=Nutrition

 The Need for Nutrition
The Need for Nutrition
Nutritional supplements are no longer just a good idea.
They’re a necessity.

Our plants may be bigger and better looking today, but they lack the nutritional potency they used to have. And, it begins with our soil. The 1992 Earth Summit revealed that farmlands in North America are now 85 percent nutrient depleted – our once fertile soils are now nearly dead. It should be no surprise then, that what we grow in that soil doesn’t measure up, either. A study by the USDA shows that over the past 50-70 years, the nutritional value of most fruits and vegetables has fallen precipitously, in some cases by 40 percent or more for key minerals and vitamins.
It’s a big part of the reason that we are the most overfed, undernourished country in the world. Have you heard the news?
  • 2/3 of all deaths are caused by poor diet – including heart disease, the No. 1 killer in the U.S.
  • 70% of people do not receive the minimum daily requirement of key nutrients.
  • 80% of cancers are diet related.
  • A child is diagnosed with autism every 20 minutes.
  • There is a new diagnosis of Alzheimer’s every 72 seconds.
  • 95% of Type 2 diabetes is caused by obesity.
  • 7 out of 10 Americans are overweight or obese.
  • 1 in 3 adult Americans has high blood pressure.
  • More than 1 in 5 Americans have doctor-diagnosed arthritis.
  • Americans age 65 and older take an average of
    5-6 medications daily.
You get the point...

Is there a health crisis in our society? Most people would agree that, yes, it is a crisis. But we choose to use a different word: Opportunity.
We’re the “glass half full” type. We believe we have an opportunity to help people stay healthy – even regain their health. We believe we have an opportunity to share the hope of Relìv. We believe we have an opportunity to nourish our world!
